Cabela's: Reno's Newest Outdoor Shopping Adventure

Reno, the biggest little city, has a new, big attraction for sportsmen. I decided to skip the Safari Club International Convention and spend my entry fee at the new Cabela's store on Interstate 80 in Boomtown, west of Reno. The parking lot was more crowded than the Bayshore Mall at Christmas but I was excited when I got a shopping cart to push around the sporting goods store.

The store is bigger than our Costco and packed full of all the items found on the pages of their catalog. It was the official grand opening celebration and the place was crowded. There were kids screaming and pop guns popping. It was hard to maneuver my cart through the people and when I stopped to look at something I felt pressed by the crowd.

The quietest place was the fly fishing area. I thought it was fitting and represented what happens in the field. read more
