East Takes Inaugural Fish-Off

Looks like the East is better than the West after all.

Pro anglers from the BP Eastern Division got the better of anglers from the National Guard Western Division in 16 of 30 match-ups at the Wal-Mart FLW Series East/West Fish-Off on Lake Amistad to take bragging rights into FLW?s biggest event ? the $2 million Forrest Wood Cup.

But the West can lay claim to the top pro angler of the tournament as Clayton Meyer of San Diego, Calif., took home the $25,000 first prize after weighing in 30 pounds, 1 ounce of bass Saturday for a three-day total of 76 pounds, 11 ounces.

Meyer, who said he caught most of his bass using a jig, trailed his opponent, Mark Rose of Marion, Ark., nearly 14 pounds after the first day of competition. The next two days, Meyer posted bags of 30 pounds or better and sealed his spot in the Forrest L. read more
