Kerr Nudges Rath For Fishing Win

Local angler Terrence Rath was sitting pretty.During Saturday's weigh-in following the fourth and final day of fishing in the FLW Stren Series Western Division tournament on Lake Havasu, Rath had netted the five-fish limit of 13 pounds, 9 ounces and held first place at 53-8.But Justin Kerr of Simi Valley, Calif., still had to weigh. Kerr led through the first three days of the tournament and needed 11-12 to take the win. When his fifth fish hit the tank, the total said 12-1 and Kerr got his first Stren Series victory.“I don't know what to say. I got real lucky today," Kerr said.Kerr used a pepper jig and spinner bait, burning it over rocks to hook the bass. And he fell back on a drop shot on a robo worm when the jig wasn't working.The win earned Kerr $25,000 and 200 points in the series standings.Rath had previously won on his home lake before, taking a co-angler title, and was in contention for a pro victory the whole way.“I had an awesome week. read more
