Outdoors: Local Fisheries Biologists Need More Say In Tournament …

Chuck Rolfsmeyer is an old hand at fishing tournament discussions.

The McFarland resident served on the original fishing tournament advisory committee the Department of Natural Resources established about 18 years ago, and he served on the most recent committee that advised the DNR on the new rules that were approved by the Natural Resources Board last week.

Rolfsmeyer has been an active member of several fishing organizations, and he provided testimony to the NRB last Wednesday on behalf of the National Bass Federation asking for more emphasis on educational opportunities for anglers.

"It was the bass groups as a whole that set up size limits, sampling by the DNR, youth programs, and projects like stenciling of storm water drainage outlets so that pollutants aren't disposed of in the drains that go into the lake," Rolfsmeyer said. read more
