Pace Finishes Second In Bassmaster Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Cliff Pace of Petal didn't get the victory in bass fishing's most prestigious tournament, but his second-place finish Sunday in the Bassmaster Classic solidified his stance as one of the sport's fast-rising stars.

Pace had a five-fish limit weighing 11 pounds in the final round for a three-day total of 44 pounds, 5 ounces to finish runner-up to Alton Jones of Waco, Texas. Jones earned $500,000 and perhaps a million or two more in future endorsements for his 49-pound, 7-ounce total.
